Mandatory 2FA On Instagram: Update August 2025

As of 2025, Instagram has been rolling out a new security requirement: all accounts must now have two‑factor authentication (2FA) enabled. This change is designed to bolster account protection by requiring a second form of verification, such as an SMS code or authentication app, each time there’s a login attempt from an unrecognized device. 2FA adds a critical layer of security on top of your password to fend off unauthorized access.

What this means for your Storrito connection

Instagram has recently made two-factor authentication (2FA) mandatory for all accounts. That means: before your account can connect to any external tool (like Storrito), you’ll first need to set up 2FA directly in the Instagram app. It may also mean that your Instagram account is disconnected from Storrito and it will be necessary to set up 2FA on your Instagram account before you can reconnect.

If you already have 2FA set up, you might still see new login prompts when reconnecting your account to Storrito.

Common issues

  • Login doesn’t complete: Instagram asks for 2FA but the prompt never appears in the tool.
  • Code not arriving: Some users report delays with SMS or app codes.
  • Unexpected disconnects: Accounts without 2FA enabled are automatically blocked from connecting.

What you should do

  1. Enable 2FA in Instagram
  • Go to the Instagram app → Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security → Two-factor authentication.
  • Choose your preferred method (we strongly recommend using an authenticator app).

  1. Reconnect your account in Storrito
  • After 2FA is enabled, go back to Storrito and reconnect your Instagram account.
  • When asked, enter the 2FA code sent by Instagram.

  1. Keep your device ready
  • Make sure you have access to your phone number or authenticator app when logging in.
  • You may be required to confirm the Storrito login during the connection process.

Quick tips

  • Always keep your Instagram app updated.
  • Save your recovery codes in case you lose access to your phone.
  • If login fails, first confirm that 2FA is fully set up inside Instagram, then retry the connection.
