How Does Proration Work?

If you ever adjust your Storrito subscription, whether you're upgrading, downgrading, or changing your billing cycle, your charges may be automatically adjusted. This process is called proration, and it ensures you're only billed for the time you actually use on each plan.

What is proration?

Proration is a fair way to adjust your bill when you change plans mid-cycle. Instead of restarting your billing from scratch, we (via our billing partner, Paddle) calculate the price difference based on how much time remains in your current billing period.

This way, you’ll never be double-charged or lose value from a plan you've already paid for.

When does this happen?

Proration usually applies when you:

  • Upgrade to a higher-tier plan
  • Downgrade to a lower-tier plan
  • Switch between monthly and annual billing

These changes trigger a quick recalculation so your invoice reflects the difference.

What shows up on your invoice?

You might see a mix of the following:

  • A credit for unused time on your previous plan
  • A partial charge for your new plan
  • A final total that could be: a small one-time charge, a zero balance (if the credit fully covers the change), or a small refund (in rare downgrade scenarios)

Paddle calculates this down to the cent for maximum fairness.

Important: Special Offers & Discounts

If you originally signed up with a discount code, custom offer, or other non-standard pricing, this won’t carry over automatically when you upgrade or downgrade your plan.

In those cases, proration may appear incorrect or inconsistent because the system uses standard pricing for its calculations. This is a known limitation.

If you think this applies to your account, please don’t hesitate to contact our team. We’ll be happy to review your invoice and make any necessary adjustments manually.

How we usually handle it

We’ve set up billing so that:

  • Upgrades are billed immediately based on the difference
  • Downgrades are credited toward your next renewal

That way, your access continues uninterrupted and you're only ever paying for what you’re using.
